Sites

From 2004 LGTU’s community development work has focussed particularly on three council run sites in east London, in the boroughs of Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets. For four years, residents living on these sites have been grappling with the process of relocation. Hackney and Newham sites had to be relocated as the land they were on was needed for the Olympics. In Tower Hamlets, the new Crossrail scheme has impacted on the Eleanor street site.

Here we offer a snapshot of the history and relocation processes, in which LGTU has been closely involved, alongside the site residents.
