London Borough Directory

In 2006 the London Gypsy and Traveller Unit was funded by the London Councils to produce a directory of services for Gypsies and Travellers within the 33 London Boroughs. We would like to thank the council officers and voluntary sector staff whose co operation was crucial in compiling this directory.

In researching it, we came across a wide range of responses within local authorities. In some, there was confusion, lack of a coherent strategy or prejudice. However we also found examples where both policy and good practice is developing. In general, there is apparently, a growing awareness of Gypsy and Traveller issues and we are hopeful that this will soon be translated into effective strategy and provision across London.
